You end up having your lunch with tourists queuing to pay for some gifts very close to you sometimes. The restaurant can be busy as it also has a gift shop and these are crammed into a narrow space. The minus points are as mentioned the car park on a busy day and the toilets are in the coffee shop (3 only). Weekends tend to be busier especially in the Summer. The nearest car park to the church is normally enough to cater for day to day traffic. Coaches or Large Camper types of vehicles can use the upper car park. The other good thing is that there is a gift shop and also a restaurant within the grounds, car parking is not a problem. You could spend a few minutes here on a visit or hours because on a good day you have the magnificent views. The church is well kept and a product of it's time and all the better for that. A tip for tourists you have to hunt for Yeats grave which is at the rear of the church but it is because of it's simplicity that it is magic. Benbulben towers above the churchyard and is very impressive especially these days with snow added. There are wonderful views of the sea "if you are tall" and the mountains of Sligo and Leitrim all around which wrap around the site. It is a lovely quiet spot whether you are into Yeats or not. I try and stop at this spot every time I travel to the Sligo area or while passing trough.
